What is Online Collaboration?
Online collaboration involves utilising tools and platforms to create an online space where users can connect with each other and work collaboratively.
Types of Online Collaboration
Synchronous / Communication-based – working with other team members at the same time by using instant messaging (e.g. Discord) and videoconferencing (e.g. Webex)
Asynchronous / File-based – primarily includes document sharing / Cloud storage (e.g. OneDrive) and document syncing (e.g. Microsoft’s co-authoring feature). Group calendars (e.g. Google Calendar) and workflow management systems can also be considered as asynchronous online collaboration.
